Atlantic Waves

(Thanks to R.A.D. Stainforth ... with a small contribution from Amy the cat ...)

In the space between the crash
and pull of this wave,
I give you a landlocked heart,
chest deep, tumbled
incandescent as sea glass.

Turn it over,
examine it
in the palm of your hand.
See how important it is,
how far it traveled.

Press it
to your lips,
feel the soft-spoken stone
whisper bottle green
in your listening mouth.

Let it dissolve whole,
release the saved-up thirst,
the delicate, jellied passion.
All you hear is the sea.
Nothing else matters.

  19. Fantastic piece. Isn't it amazing how, I think, the first sense that this picture tingles is the sense of sound? It's like the pic has an audible nature to it! You captured that beautifully here. Fantastic as always.

  22. At first I thought what can I say that I haven't already said in my post for Sepia Saturday this week? We had the sea as our photo prompt there as well, but then I knew deep inside my love for the sea and water will carry me on! Your photo choice is perfect Tess, thank you.
