Garterless

I see your subtleties,
your miscellaneous ―
like the thrill when I realize
I'm wearing two different socks.
Unmatched love crept up,
woolly, without garters,
more endearing
than the very best toe-curling.
I want to take it undarned
from your top drawer,
hang it on my mantel,
fill it – unstoppable.

  5. I've seen that Venus! Another treasure housed at the Art Institute of Chicago. Speaking of treasures...Willow Manor houses one, that is for sure. Thank you for this quintessential tk poem, and yes, I make bold to borrow one of your favorite words.

  7. Lovely...poetry that reaches in, while presenting socks...what a line...the'thrill' took some time to sink in - I like that, the accidental uniqueness..was wonderfully readable, in the way that repeated readings give more. Thanks!

  9. I adore this! I shouldn't have read it... I usually wait to read until I have written my piece for the Magpie prompts... otherwise I get intimidated - yes this is just perfect and goes splendidly with the photo. I wonder, did you write this in response to it or found it afterwards.

Sigh - I'm off to now try to do some original thinking...

  20. A FABULOUS *Tessian* Poem - and who to better bring it to life - than Monsieur Stainforth! Bravi to both!

Tess, I read your last post....it's sad when things shift (even good ones like the success of your poems)...we all had such fun at the height of our *Blogging Madness*, didn't we! Those Willow Balls were extraordinary! Perhaps it's Winter, perhaps just the changing times...but so many (myself included) seem to blog less.... I hope you won't give it up entirely.... but if so, see you on *FB* for sure.

    Love,

    ♥ Robin ♥

  26. Fantastic again. You have articulated a sensation that I never even realized I had. (The joy of unintentionally unmatched socks: a microcosm for the joy of whimsy I see in your poem!) Bravo.
