Garterless

I see your subtleties,
your miscellaneous ―
like the thrill when I realize
I'm wearing two different socks.

Unmatched love crept up,
woolly, without garters,
more endearing
than the very best toe-curling.

I want to take it undarned
from your top drawer,
hang it on my mantel,
fill it – unstoppable.
