Things are heating up at the manor for the big night.
Just in case you haven't caught the fever, here's a little teaser...

  3. Oooh...I feel the anticipation and excitement all the way in San Francisco! Having final alterations made to my gown....
my "Guys" all looking forward to the ball... Willow, don't forget the candleabra for my Franz (as in Lizst) to have on his piano.... he has been rehearsing all week!

(And we have all been brushing up on our dancing....especially me - as I haven't broken my new Jimmy Choo's in yet....)

I will be air expressing some fresh Dungeness Crab and SF Sourdough to the Manor on Wednesday!

This is going to be such fun - o Hostess with the Mostess!

    Hugs,

    ♥ Robin ♥

  4. Dear Willow, A cornucopia of sugared almondy frocked deliciousness! This will be a night to remember......will it be carriages at midnight and will my driver be able to draw up the Bentley to the hall door?

    ReplyDelete
  5. Yes, but of course! Your driver will be able to drive up to the front door of the manor for your grand and most elegant entrance, Edith.

  6. Where on earth does that clip come from? Interesting.

By the way, will J Depp be there on thursday? We once fought over a woman and there could be blood spilt on your extensive lawns.

  7. Cro, Johnny Depp was actually my date last year. Sir Anthony "Tony" (as I like to call him) Hopkins pulled a revolver on him in a jealous rage. I think the incident may prevent Johnny from showing up this year, but I hope not. Especially since he and I might share the same Cherokee great-great-grandmother.

  8. Oh, this clip is from Ken Branagh's delightful film version of Love's Labour's Lost.

  9. Willow dearest, I have decided to act my age and instead of swanning it like Audrey Hepburn at 22, I shall come as famme fatal in my backless red number.
That is if I make it to the ball at all and my partner does not whisk me away to some chambre separee instead . . .

    ReplyDelete
  10. The backless red is SO you, Arija. Can't wait to see you, daaaling!!!

  11. Willow, be watching for a delivery of 25 cases of Guenoc claret!
I have been busy this weekend finalzing my travel plans, talking with my date who is absolutely beside himself with excitement, and going in for fittings for my gown. It is much more elegant than my demure dress for last year's ball. (I think one must consider one's escort in the final choice.) Do you think anyone will be up for a tray of pate? Just let me know. Graystone's Chef Marcel is ready and waiting. Shall we have him and his staff come along to help at Willow Manor? He was so jealous when I left him behind last year!

  12. i start to get extremely curious...

  13. Claret! Oh, daaling, how ever-so-delightful! Thank you! Yes, bring along Marcel. He can keep an eye on things for me, while I'm dancing with your date!

  14. To have this great dance number performed
    live, a highlight of Branagh's LOVE'S
LABORS LOST, will be smashing. Perhaps
Kenneth will join in at the library
    later and do some Shakespearean
    monologues for the Bard-hungry
among us. I heard a rumor that you
are having Orson Welles doing some
    speeches from CHIMES AT MIDNIGHT,
    and Denzel Washington doing something
    from MUCH ADO ABOUT NOTHING,
    and Michael York spouting speeches
from ROMEO AND JULIET, and Ian Holm
doing his KING LEAR, and the apex
of that part of the evening will be
the DUEL OF HAMLETS, where Laurence
Olivier will take on Richard Burton,
    Mel Gibson, Kenneth Branagh, Nicol
    Williamson, and Kevin Kline.
Wow, you certainly know how to
    plan a shindig!

  15. Dear Willow,
While you are watching for FireLight's delivery, be on the lookout for a little something arriving courtesy of Jude himself. He happens to adore Romanicos Chocolates ... five of their Party Boxes (48 truffles in each) are on the way. Do you think that number adequate? With names like Passion Caramel, Tipsy Almond, Sexy Cherry and Sinful Amaretto we can't go wrong!

  16. Need help!!!!
    Who to ask?
    What to wear?
I simply don't know where to start?

    ReplyDelete
  17. I am still thinking about what to wear.

  18. This is wonderful, I am having such fun sitting back and watching all. i can feel the excitement building and am amused by each trying to out do the other ...it will be fun on the night!

  19. Dearest Willow,

The anticipation is killing me and I have ready myself into a frenzie. Clive keeps reminding me that all will be well and to relax and enjoy the moment. After all the journey is part of the reward.

With much anticipation, I look forward to seeing you on Thursday.

  20. I've never seen this! Well, that settles it, I am breaking out the tux!

    ReplyDelete
  21. Well, I've tried to stay away and feign indifference, playing it coy, hard to get, but, face it, I don't have the looks for that game, and, second, I have gotten caught up in all the excitement. I will be there, willow, and will soon post on what I plan to bring to the grand affair. When is the widgee thingee going to be up?

    ReplyDelete
  22. Its THE event of the year. I'll be watching and enjoying myself immensely.

  23. I can't see anyone's picture ... what is going on? Haunted Blogger?

  24. Caught the DVD of LLL last summer, and just loved the mingling of 'entre guerre' with S'peare. Branagh is a real talent.

Did he have a 'woman problem'? Update me on the gossip?

    ReplyDelete
  25. Man, this is going to be fun!

    ReplyDelete
  26. Lorenzo, the Mr. Linky widget will be up Thursday, September 30. See you there! :)

    ReplyDelete
  27. Robin, I'll make sure the silver candelabra is polished and on the piano, just for Mr. Liszt!

    ReplyDelete
  28. Trulyfool, Branagh and Emma Thompson called it quits a long time ago. Who's he with now? I don't know! Let's make sure he's at the ball!

    ReplyDelete
  29. Willow, I've been over in the corner, eating worms, and I nearly missed hearing about the ball. Now I've got some fast shopping to do -- Who was it that arrived naked last year? How are you fixed for large potted plants (for hiding behind)?

    ReplyDelete
  30. Well now...I think there is nothing left on this earth for me to hear or know. I've seen nearly everthing. One more to go, and that's WILLOW'S great annual affair.

Hey, I'll be there, but my dates are all old or dead. There's Myrna Loy. Marilyn Monroe, Liz Taylor, fell in love with her during National Velvet

I want to bring a whole string of mares, OK? And wouldn't ya know, now I AM getting excited!

    ReplyDelete
  31. What a delightful way to start the afternoon rounds, thank you! :-)

  32. Ah, one of my favourite songs ever. This version is fun, but no one has ever topped my dreamboat Fred!

    ReplyDelete
  33. Love the video...so charming....Willow you have me curious now...i am a bit slow...i admit...i will click on the ball link and see what all the excitement is about...:-)

    ReplyDelete
  34. Awesome vid! I'm in the last stages of shopping for my outfit. Can't wait!!

    ReplyDelete
  35. Sandra, yep, I've ordered lots of extra large potted palms, since they were in much demand last year!

    ReplyDelete
  36. Jennifer, I had Fred and Ginger all ready to go yesterday, but decided this Branagh version might be new to everyone. You're right, no one can top the classic!

    ReplyDelete
  37. Willow,
Simply marvelous daaaahing!! LadyCat and I are so much looking forward to the "Big Event" !!

  39. I just wanted to say thank you for the lovely song stuck in head all day, and for the lovely diversion of youtube film clips from this movie I somehow missed. Thanks for the glamour in my otherwise dreary day!
