Silverware, Simon and Garfunkel

Among a hundred other things,
I'm polishing these and listening to this:

I'm extra busy getting ready for Thanksgiving, so I might
be a little slow getting around the bloggyhood this week.
I'll try to post a little something every day or so, just
so you know I'm still around! By the way, the bat cave
is finally completed, so I'll post some "after" pix soon.

  1. That reminds me! Our silver truly does need a good polish. I avert my eyes every time I dust around the candleabra and such.

Please let us know what is on the Willow Manor menu for Thanksgiving!

  5. Oh. My. God!!!

Please, click on this link and read the article and you'll be able to know why I am sitting here at 11:11pm in London with my mouth wide open and my jaw caressing the floor.

I don't know what to call it, but if you'd heard me talking to myself just now when I entered your blog and saw THAT clip of Simon and Garfunkel, you'd have been amazed at the amount of expletives I know by heart in the English language. And others that you might not even they existed :-).

The link is to a column that comes out every fortnight in The Guardian's Film and Music supplement, and it's compulsory reading for me because I love Laura Barton's writing. I think she is one of the top music journalists in this country and you... today... posting... this... clip...

I have just freaked out. Big time. Time to put myself to sleep. No more writing for tonight.

(Leaves whislt shaking his head in disbelief)

    Greetings from London.

  9. Our silver is polished, but not the candleabra, salt & pepper, or the trays... Guess I'd better put on some folk music.

  12. Cuban, this is TOO scary!! And at 11:11, too. I've been listening to my old S&G album and have had this particular song in my head all week. I enjoyed Laura Barton's article, thanks for the link. She and you must have picked up on my brainwaves!

  13. Thanks giving is next week, isn't it?
Nic picture. I quite like tarnished silver, how it evolves its own patterns and hues. But of course, that's no good to eat with.

  14. Hello Lady Willow !

You are "rich" with all these things...

Simon & Garfunkel were very great together...

And I like also them when they are alone...

  15. I love sitting polishing silver. It's such a soothing thing to do. Looks like you've got quite a collection there. Happy Thanksgiving Preparation Time. I love S&G - Only Living Boy in New York is my favourite song.

  16. p.s. - I meant my favourite song of theirs. I'm not really sure what my all-time favourite song in the whole world would be actually. Too hard to think about.

  22. You know that game where you think of famous people you'd like to have a meal and a conversation with? I'm changing it to: people whose dinner tables I'd like to be seated at for a big feast. Yours would be right at the top of my list!

  24. That song makes me cry.
I remember it in the fall of 1969 on the south coast of England by the sea.
And yes, this is the time of year I polish the silver.
We need sparkles on wintry nights.
Maybe we should all post the results of our efforts?
