Vitamin

I was anemic:
smelling of mothballs,
cluttered with rejections,
unpaid bills, tired blood,
years of night.

Now a daily swallow.
Kiss swished down with promise.
You taste better than any placebo.
Rinse life clean.
Float. Gulp.

I am dependent.
Convinced you impact mortality.
Supplement everything.
Give me injections.
A horse pill.

  5. Oh yes, isn't there a pill for everything these days? Oh the irony - an advert for antihistamines just came on the TV... Pills for what ails you, and then pills to counteract the side effects... Great write.

  6. You taste better than any placebo... great line. Crazy world we live in when pharmaceuticals are advertised on tv. Nicely penned.

  14. " Give me injections.
    A horse pill."

That made me grin. Rather widely...

  15. Like the symbolic meaning of your words...anemic to life, supplements need more and bigger...till we just devour ourselves...better just shift in slow mode maybe...

  20. I think I've been messing up publishing comments lately. I think I have been hitting the signout button when I should be hitting the publish button.

Now I don't remember exactly what I said. I think it was, "'Tired blood' - I love it! Puts me immediately in mind of Quiz Show and 'Geritol! Geritol cures tired blood.

My blood's been exhausted lately. But better I suppose that it be exhausted than that it be exhaust."

Wow. So much less feeling to it now. Trying to reconstruct off-the-cuff is impossible to do, with exhausted blood.

This time let me hit the right button.
