Culinary

I'm your sous chef
but it's you who are cunning,
squeezing seeds from tomatoes
casually in the palm of your hand.
We reflect in the night window
like two aproned ghosts.

It's a changed world here,
free from any feeling
apart from belonging.
I lean back and sip wine,
watch you do your splendid thing,
flee all responsibility.

Patient with a slow simmer,
you dare to touch fleshy lasagna
with gentle expertise.
Everything fades to steam.
Is it coincidence we wind up
in the same kitchen?

  2. Wonderful .. every woman deserves a master chef in the house ..
second in command suits me just fine! As long as it's me in the kitchen too.

  3. And who wouldn't want a sous chef to share their kitchen? :)

  4. ...ah, i am learning more from R.A.D.'s reading not alone on the accent but how words, that seemed unfamilar to me, are pronounced... your sense of belongingness to the kitchen world is so visible here... i like the reflection in the night window like two aproned ghosts a lot... and your finale is a killer that fits well on how it is being read... ah, wish i could grace my poems with such a rich tone & soul when read... smiles... happy easter!

  9. Perfect, it so reminded me of 'kitchen part' from Angels Fall...remarkable resemblance to the grace and smoothness of her words and Reece movements...I might be going off the track but loved what you have cooked here :)

  14. Two cooks are fun, Tess! But too many may spoil the broth. Keep it small and nothing's going to be wrong! Nicely!

  17. You painted an idyllic picture - someone else doing the cooking whilst you sip wine and watch. No wonder there's steam.

  24. I hardly drop comments, however i did a few searching and wound up here "Culinary".
And I actually do have 2 questions for you if it's allright. Could it be simply me or does it look as if like a few of these responses look like they are written by brain dead people? :-P And, if you are writing at additional sites, I would like to keep up with everything new you have to post. Would you list of all of all your public sites like your twitter feed, Facebook page or linkedin profile?
