The Walk

Beautiful recitation by R.A.D. Stainforth ... he smiles here ...

Day ramps down
in economy of light.

Swifts lilt above,
twitter last rites.

We walk, until it's too late
for them to fly.

Dress, soft on your thighs,
flip-flops whisper
the rush of your voice,
echo your indelible press.

It's so dark,
I can't tell sound from touch,
or see your eyes.

  18. Your poem takes me to a place where natural elements are fused and whole. Perhaps the dress, but really only the flip flops are an indication of industrial us. Thank you for sharing this peaceful and memorable work, Tess. =D

  21. "I can't tell sound from touch".
Often, Tess, you hit a spot that resonates, and this one does; the point at which self consciousness is lost in a continuum of feeling.

  25. Dear Tess: Hypnotic, dreamy American echoes of Eddie Hopper's 30's so perfectly. Love the texture, the sensual feeling "flipflops" "thighs" "stilts"; a very definite sense of the odd dusk here. Perfect inflection, Ronaldo.
