Channeling Julie No. 2

I'm channeling my inner Julie this week with another one of my random favorite things.  I like to keep my teabags (PG Tips) in a vintage Mason jar.  Every morning, when I make my tea, I enjoy the simple ritual of unscrewing the lid, removing a bag, and inhaling deeply, before replacing it.  The sweet, heady scent of the tea is so therapeutic, and I love the way the sunlight plays through the blue bubbled glass. It's just one of those little things that makes me happy, like raindrops on roses, and whiskers on kittens.

I adore simple pleasures.
They are the last refuge of the complex.

  1. Ahh, PG Tips, I remember them well. My mother is from England, she use to drink PG. Strangely, I never took to tea, my daughter did though.
I keep teabags here for my mother when she visits, also in a little glass jar but not a neat one like you, perhaps I should up my game a little :)

  2. I really adore coffee. A few years ago, I stopped drinking it, and started sleeping better, and feeling better, as a result. Last year, I once again embraced my beloved coffee, only to have the same problems return. I drink it occasionally, but for now it's tea. Sigh. Tea is tea. It's certainly not coffee.

  3. I'm having some problems of late with coffee, too. I like tea...may switch to it this summer. It is not coffee, but if one chooses wisely, as you do, it is very pleasurable. One finds peculiarities with aging, sigh...we can't have everything we desire, anymore...as if we ever could

  5. Isn't it funny how these little rituals can mean so much to us. I feel the same way about making my morning Keurig cup of coffee...real cream..french roast or sumatra...

  7. I've three old clear glass golden harvest cannisters, one for French Roast, one for tea, and one for Equal (no excuse), and each morning go for the French Roast and each evening the tea. These simple things to start and stop the day.

  8. I know what you mean about about the aroma. A shop where I buy my tea keeps them in large containers and when they scoop out your order, (usually a combination of several) they take the large lid and tease you with the scents! Not sure which is better the taste or the scent!

  9. That Wilde quote is a great prompt, I think, for writing.

Thank you for sharing your simple thing.

  11. My people used to own a Tea Garden in Sri Lanka, and they grew on contract for PG Tips. Coincidence?

  12. I'm not a tea drinker but my husband is. But each time I open up the bottle to re-stock his tea bags, I too can't help but inhale deeply to take in the scent. It's just kind of refreshing.

  14. Was going to ask who Julie was, then espied your tagline at the bottom. Whew! Love your mason jar, and your morning ritual. Mine is making iced tea for the husband, gathering fresh mint from the garden, and crushing it in my hands before tying it in the teabag strings for submersion. Ahhhhhhhhhh..... bliss!

  21. I don't know this tea, Tess. I can only drink "decaf" so I usually stick to some sort of herbal tea but have become way more addicted to coffee than tea lately; it could be due to taking care of the baby 10 hours a day! People my age are not supposed to be having babies around all day long...we're supposed to be writing our blogs, sitting on our butts, and taking naps. Oh well...hopefully it keeps me young!
