Willow: Honey, we really need to replace these light fixtures.

WT: Why? I like them.

  2. hahaaaaa! Keep 'em. They're fabulous.

  3. That's funny! What's also funny is that we just had a "bonus" room finished--the contractor said he had some light fixtures we could have, so we said (sight-unseen), "sure, put them in." Guess what--same as what you have there. Eberle & I had a good laugh & decided we could live with them.

  4. Isn't the guilelessness of men precious?!

    ReplyDelete
  5. Oh, I don't think it's guileless in this case!

  6. I have the same fixtures, in green. I don't know why it never hit me in the store when I saw them in the boxes. Now every so often, usually when I'm low on milk, they scare me. Otherwise I still like the shape and the color and ummmmmm the cream colored ceiling around them. Oh geez, I really do need to replace these!

    ReplyDelete
  17. Steven, you made me laugh out loud. Really loud.

    ReplyDelete
  18. Vicki, I actually do still have my Betsy Wetsy doll. The look would add to the quirkiness of the manor, I'd have to say.

  28. I have one of these in my kitchen!
    Men are always hesitent to change and always of the mentality;
"if it ain't broke, don't fix it"!

  29. Nanatrish, I've mentioned WT's fabulous hair before. It's the best ever. Wish I had been born with his lovely locks. Fortunately, my daughter inherited them.

    ReplyDelete
  30. I love your chess based observation, oh yeah.

The light fixtures are cool. Why doesn't the hubby like them?

    ReplyDelete
  31. Hilarious joke!
    Master-stroke!
Your award is on my blog:)

    ReplyDelete
  32. Well, I'm glad you got that off your chest, Willow. Im sure they make WT's face light up...

    ReplyDelete
  33. Reya, actually, WT loves them (for obvious reasons) and it's me that doesn't like them.

    ReplyDelete
  34. Hello Willow,

A friend had similar lights on THE WALL of his apartment (not of his choosing!) Always a good talking point though!

    ReplyDelete
  35. To WT the fixtures were fine –
    The peaks altogether sublime.
    Willow said, “Not a chance,
    Please, dear, avert your glance!”
They were replaced in the wee nick of time!

    ReplyDelete
  36. Look on the bright side--you won't have to dust it for the rest of your life!

    ReplyDelete
  37. You could take an eye out with one of those things!
    Thanks for the giggles Willow.
    Cheers!

  38. Suza you are the Queen of Rhyme! That is just too cute, dear friend! ~xo

    Thank you so very much.

If you permit me, are you sure it is a good idea to change them?

  40. He must like them even better illuminated! I just love boys and it's so nice to be naughty!

    ReplyDelete
  41. They look a bit like the ones a friend got. They were very expensive, but seem to light up her life.

  42. Groan
We had one of these in that horrible verdigris that was so popular about 15 years ago. Never had a matching set though.

You should get some stalagmite of a lamp coming from the other direction and see what he says.

    ReplyDelete
  43. I am so far out of tune with the times I would have guessed they were modern and up to date.

    ReplyDelete
  44. Well at least they don't appear to need support.

    ReplyDelete
  45. You'll be OK so long as he doesn't insist on putting tassels on them.

    ReplyDelete
  46. Too funny! May I ask who picked them in the first place?

    ReplyDelete
  47. My aunt and uncle had an older, pre-Mission style home. They had the orignal version of that style of light. The one in the dining room was named "Tilly."

    ReplyDelete
  48. I love these little snippets of convo you have started offering every now and then lately. Very fun.

I don't know what is more enjoyable here. Perhaps it's the use of "we"! Ha. But, I was just gogin to say something when I read your comment:

"I've mentioned WT's fabulous hair before. It's the best ever. Wish I
had been born with his lovely locks."
--Yes, I noticed that too. "Best" though? Hmmm...looks in my mirror... hahaha. No, he really does have great hair and I bet he doesn;t even care about it. Oh well.

    ReplyDelete
  49. BTW, that's an exceptionally tidy fridge door. a lot like mine. I don;t like it cluttered.

    ReplyDelete
  50. Titillating blog you've posted today Willow! So, are you planning to remove the lights completely or install implants? I'm going to have one more run through the comments, so I can chuckle some more. Too funny!!!
Do you pay ellen abbott? =D

    ReplyDelete
  51. Mmm, you got that right, he doesn't even care about his hair. SO unfair.

    ReplyDelete
  52. Ronda, Tilly, eh? That's priceless. I guess if we have to keep them, we can at least give them names.

    ReplyDelete
  53. Shhhh! Linda, you're not supposed to know about Ellen and the $$$!!

    ReplyDelete
  54. I'll be happy to take them off your hands Willow. You know, in the interests of recycling and everything.

    ReplyDelete
  55. Nice rack!

    Did I say that.

    No I did not.

  59. I nearly asked if it's cold in that room, but saw that another like mind had thrown that one out there. Love your blog and the fact that you are a fellow-Ohioan. In fact, finding your blog made my day. It's delightful!

    ReplyDelete
  60. Thank you, Mahala. Ohio bloggers are always especially appreciated at the manor. Hope to see you again soon.

    ReplyDelete
  61. If you do dump them, willow, I'll find a home for them...

    ReplyDelete
  62. Willow, you and WT just "light up" my life. Some of your best posts are OVERHEARD AT THE MANOR.
And....the Colonel & I still howl every time we think of WT's knock on the bathroom door at the rural service station!
I have laughed all the way through 79 comments!!
Steven, a class act, is he not?
