  4. Oh, now you're talking turkey! I happen to love Matisse. His work is so creative and full of joy and color and vibrancy. I've always loved his odalisques and I'm particularly fond of his views from inside rooms through open windows. One of the images you had here in this video showed one of my favorites--the piano lesson and the open window behind it. Sigh. Wonderful way to start the week, Willow! Thanks! I absolutely enjoyed that.

  5. Monday? I'm late! I'm late! Oh, we are on different time zones.

Good old Henri. I always appreciated his paintings.

I used to love his self-portrait; the one with the lime green jello colors in it. There was something sweet and sad about that painting.

Of all of his paintings, that one sticks in my mind the most.

You always bring out the "food junkie" in me.

  10. Willow
thank you for taking me through the windows with the marvellous Matisse.

I love that he said, of the collages he made from his bed in his later years, that he was 'painting with scissors.'

  11. I wish to live for at least one minute in the lovely interior landscapes Monsieur Matisse created, especially the Red Room with the Gold Fish.

  13. Willow, what a beautiful way to start the week. I particularly love the accompanying music and the way the paintings "morph" into each other. Such vibrant colours, yet such a langorous feel. Matisse so aptly said, "Creativity takes courage."

  16. Thanks for posting this slideshow, I enjoyed watching it.

A few years back there was a Picasso-Matisse exhibition in London and that was the first time I saw his works live. It was certainly interesting to see these two artists grouped together.

  24. How did you know this was the perfect thing to watch (and listen to) this morning? It's raining softly here in DC, the birds are chirping and the air is sweet and warm.

    Ah ... perfection! Thanks, Willow!

  29. 10 miles run today, tick. Kids in bed, tick, food eaten, tick. Time to take a tour of my favourite blogs and what do I find here? My fave Fauve (excuse the pun, although it is always risky to call this gentleman a Fauve). I am always impressed by his debt to impressionism, especially his use of colours (that's my humble opinion, anyway!). Many thanks for this lovely present (at least for me!) on this lovely night in the British capital.

    Greetings from London.

  31. The Matisse presentation is lovely. Some of the paintings I haven't seen before.

I love his Gold Fish, you can tell from my blog.

Also we saw Matisse's cutouts for his book Jazz at a local art gallery. Very uplifting. Thanks
