known as "the bat cave" has freshly painted, ceilings, walls, floors,
cabinetry, new bedding and is ready for the holidays! I was just too
embarrassed to post clear "before" photos. A leaky roof had done
major damage to the ceiling, with brown stains and horrible hardwood
floors. Plus, the state of absolute disgust the guys always kept it,
prevented me from ever entering the room. I simply closed the door
and pretended it was not part of the Manor.
it was dubbed the "bat cave". Our youngest son will be home from
college Tuesday. I can't wait to see his surprise on finding the bat
cave replaced by an actual bedroom! It is a little sad that it's lost its
poster covered guys' "hangout" look. But I can actually enter the
room now without passing out!
That is GORGEOUS, Willow! Now what will you do if the guys still trash it?
ReplyDeleteBoys don't own the corner on the market of trashed rooms. I keep our youngest girl's door closed all the time. Hard for a Libra to take, isn't it? I'm so darned "house proud", as the English say, and I don't understand people who don't appreciate a beautiful home enough to take care of it.
ReplyDeleteGreat work! I love the arch, as well as the built ins.
Well, the oldest has his own place now, so it will just be the youngest in there for holidays and summers. What will I do if he trashes it? Hmmm. Let's just say he better NOT. ;^)
ReplyDeleteAh, it's very good bedroom.
ReplyDeleteYour son will have good dream on the bed.
Nicely done but it looks like a torture chamber for a 20 year old male. You know what I mean.
ReplyDeleteBill, hey, as long as he has high speed internet access, which he does in that room, he'll be happy.
ReplyDeleteBoys will be boys. I like the arched doorway to a room where a person could escape. Perfect for a writer.
ReplyDeleteFabulous door. Interesting room color. Manner has returned to the manor. Yes, the boys will be surprised.
ReplyDeleteThat was quick. It looks very manor fine
ReplyDeleteI can so relate to this post, my son has been staying with us whilst he completes the opening of his café/bar. This last two weeks have reminded me of how relived we were when he brought his own place. Love him to bits, yet the space keeps us closer!!!!!
ReplyDeleteThe Bat-cave looks wonderful, more like Bat-mansion now...
Wow! It looks fab! I love the arched doorway - very gothic, right up my street.
ReplyDeleteCJ xx
From Bat Cave to Man Room! :)
ReplyDeleteLooks wonderful!
Holy Scrub Brush, Batman!
ReplyDeleteWell done, Willow! What a lovely guest room. You should be so proud of yourself. And I am enchanted by that gothic door. I think I would love your house!
ReplyDeleteHappy Sunday!
The room is beautiful! I love the doorway.
ReplyDeleteHow many children do you have? I'm thinking either 3 or 15. I may not be keeping an accurate count.
It's lovely, Willow! A job well done, indeed. I think your men will enjoy and appreciate it.
ReplyDeleteI love the built in niches, and how you've displayed some of your vintage clocks.
Lovely or shall I say, very manly. You did good!
ReplyDeleteCharming room , I love the archway, colors and well place accessories. No sign of bats!haI like that, new rules! I have two boys and one is a collector...from snow shakers to beer lights!
ReplyDeleteThanks for the Russian sculpturess information...I had never heard of her. Both my mothers-in-law were from the Ukraine....plenty of stuffed cabbage! Have you been to Russia?
Blue Sky, no, I've not been to Russia, although WT has been many times and the Manor is full of Russian items from his travels. The closest I've been is Poland. Interesting that your mothers in law were from the Ukraine.
ReplyDeleteI love the color! I know you are happy to have reclaimed the room. When my youngest was 16 he asked to move downstairs into his older brother's room(that son had recently moved out). Once downstairs he decided he didn't really like being down there alone, but I wouldn't let him move back upstairs again. It was so nice to have the his mess confined to the basement, rather than scattered throughout the main floor. Call me mean, but after 16 continuous years of his junk, I just couldn't face it again.
ReplyDeleteOh, wow--it looks great, Willow! What a wonderful room--is it going to be a guest room/nice-place-to-sit-and-read-a-good-book spot now?? I love it! Looks fabulous. I'll bet he will be delighted.
ReplyDeleteSons grow into it. Surprisingly, they become like us. Even the ones we least expect.
ReplyDeleteWow, what a room it is now! Can I come stay? I love that arched doorway, too. Good for you that it's done!
ReplyDeleteIt's gorgeous Willow, dripping with character and adore the colour scheme - great job
ReplyDeleteAbsolutely gorgeous, Willow! Amazing tranformation.I saw you r blog title and got all curious as to what you might have done. Glad you included photos! WOW!
ReplyDeleteThis is a gorgeous room. I love the colors and it has such a calming look. I love it! Well done!
ReplyDeleteOmigosh, that looks lovely! Does it double as a guest room? Can I come to visit?
ReplyDeleteMy two older brothers had a "bat cave" too. Whenever I was allowed to venture in there, they said the spiders were so big they could hear them walking up the walls. Now they both live in beautiful, tidy, clean homes.
well it's certainly not the bat cave any longer! - very nice!
ReplyDeleteYour sons grew up and will certainly be happy to find this beautiful clear room where they may interfere with delight the imagination to nostalgia to remember and tell the cave bats.
ReplyDeleteYou have done a great job. This room seems so calm and fresh.
The remodel is fabulous! Love the wall and trim color, and all the welcoming touches.
ReplyDeleteThe arched entry is to die for!!!

This room is so inviting. I love the arched doorway and built-in dresser. (I still shudder when I remember my son's teenage room...)
ReplyDeleteLovely! I hope dear son has been told to leave it as he found it. I have to close my daughters bedroom door often...or hit the roof!
ReplyDeleteOh I think I'm moving in with you willow! That room is gorgeous and the arch is fabulous. Well done, what an achievement.
ReplyDeleteI used to hang a sign on my daughter's room. It read 'Don't drop litter, you'll never find it again in here'!!!
