We are so into Yul this week and many of you expressed an interestin a "cyber dance", I thought it would be great fun to host one at
Willow Manor! This is a black tie cyber event, so mark your calenders
and bring those gowns and tuxes out of mothballs. Be prepared to tell
us who your guest is, what you are wearing and your song requests for
the string quartet. And if you are really into this, feel free to host a
satellite dance at your blog on October 1. See you then! Practice
those waltz steps...one two three...one two three... Oh, and just for
fun, we'll have a drawing from the attendees and award a door prize!
This will be an all day event on Wednesday. Just drop in and leave a comment and I'll put your name in the drawing for the door prize! Fun, fun!! :D

That's hilarious--very creative Willow--a cyber-dance. I always loved Yul Brynner..."et-cetera, et-cetera..." And who doesn't love "Shall we dance?!" great fun!

In our student years, S Black and I spent many evenings scoffing up the food and drink offered at gallery openings at the Anna Leonowens Gallery:

I was thinking of Vermeer's "The Little Street" painting as I shot the scene! I bought postcards of that painting, back at the big Vermeer exhibition at the National Gallery in Washington DC, a few years back, because I loved those clouds so much. :-)
Wow, how absolutely brilliant. I'll be there. Having played the part of Anna in our operatic society's production, I have done it!! On the Friday night, we whizzed round so fast to 'Shall we dance' that we fell over!! We got up and the 'King' said, 'We do it again - and this time we don't fall over'!! What a great ad lib!!

Wow, i haven't been to a ball in years, not since i was a young farmer! Not sure if you have anything like young farmer's in the states. Most of them aren't actually farmer's at all, they just like to party a lot!!!

I love the king and i. When i was a little girl i always wanted to be Mrs Anna so i could wear those fabulous dresses and dance with Yul of course!
Now going to dust off my dresses and choose a suitable one and practice my dance steps......... one, two, three and one, two, three and.....

ReplyDeleteI LOVE this show! And I learned to dance the polka when I was in this show many, many years ago! I played the role of "Tuptim", the Burmese slave girl who was given to the King of Siam as a concubine and who was in love with Lun Tha. Imagine all the make-up and hair dye that had to be applied to get this blonde-haired blue-eyed girl to look Burmese! LOL!
