Anthony Hopkins, Emma Thompson, Howard's End
Tonight's feel better movie is Howard's End, the Merchant Ivory
adaptation of the E. M. Forster novel. Unfortunately, I couldn't find my
favorite scene on YouTube, which is the opening, in which Vanessa
Redgrave strolls outside the house, her gown swishing through lovely
long grass at twilight. But this video is a wonderful montage set to
the music of Somewhere in Time. Sigh. I should feel better in
no time at all.

I know, I know! I do like some westerns, "The Proposition" with Danny Huston and Emily Watson and "High Noon" with Gary Cooper and Grace Kelly, to name a few. And how about "Patton" or "A Bridge Too Far"? Just not when I'm sick...

The scene where Emma T. and Anthony Hopkins argue outdoors, he says something sharp, and the tendon in her neck visibly jumps at his words...she is unspeakably good. Remains of the Day is another guilty pleasure with these two.
