Wanted

Modest lunchbox.
Preferably tartan.
Brodie or MacGregor.

No thermos necessary.

Replacement for brown bag.
Bologna and mayo on white.
Box of Sun-Maid sunshine.

How nice it would look,
conspicuous on the coat rack,
with books in the bicycle basket.

Undeserving.
A lesson in contentment.
Maybe they couldn't be bothered.

Now I hoard.

Tool, document, tackle,
anything with buckle and handle.
Enough for a dozen lunches.

  11. Oh geez, I've lived this. I went through a period, many years ago now, when I finally had the independence--and, apparently, the need--to pile up certain items I had wanted long ago. That scratched the itch, and I stopped doing it, but it was something I just had to get out of my system. This brought it all back. Nice writing, I should add!

    1. It didn't actually occur to me until a few weeks ago exactly why I was attracted to vintage metal boxes...all of which have handles and buckles...
