Let us have wine and women,
myrth and laughter,
Sermons and soda water
the day after.
Lord Byron, from Don Juan
Full English in bed this morning after a long, long sleep. Was the exotic tango and dark stroll among the Willow Manor trees a dream? Wadsworth has a buffet set up downstairs with lots of yummy breakfast stuff. I asked him to make the coffee espresso strength, and have plenty of "hair of the dog" available.
Thank you for making the Sixth Annual Willow Manor Ball so much fun! Everyone turned out in their most sublime, with bells on, and dancing feet. There were ample woolly socks for all, since the evening turned quite chilly. After I finish this coffee, I'll tiptoe downstairs to survey the damage; see who's sleeping where.
Some may think the Willow Manor Ball is just a lot of silly nonsense. I happen to believe the fine line between fantasy and reality is the space where artists live. We should not apologize for this virtual world, but celebrate it, embrace its creativity. Thank you for dancing that beautiful dance on the border between fantasy and reality with me, dear friends. It was grand.
ah yes, my spirit feels revitalized today, the day after. I have however lost my sneakers. luckily that's all i lost since i lost my virginity years ago. teehee. thanks for hostessing this fabulous time. suki
ReplyDeleteSuki, we had so much fun! I'll have Wadsworth keep an eye out for your fabulous sneekers...I'm sure they'll turn up...
ReplyDeleteThank you so much for hosting another grand ball.
ReplyDeleteAll of reality is filtered through our own minds. That is why beloved novels, favorite dreams, old movie clips enhance our lives as much as the sunshine on our skin. Long live fantasy and Willow Manor Balls!
ReplyDeleteIt's always such a fun jaunt, Tess ... thanks for this trip through the cyberfog to Willow Manor!
ReplyDeleteMy pleasure, all...oh that lovely cyberfog!
ReplyDeleteI wouldn't have missed it! Fact is, I'm reading this from my cell phone, and my friends and I are still roaming about, I truly hope you don't mind. Hair of the dog would be wonderful, and if we figure out how to get out of this maze of halls, we may drive home yet today. If not, what's for lunch? I can smell the most divine aromas drifting in from somewhere already!
ReplyDeleteIt was so much fun, Tess and today..I received two whalloping good news! Just goes to show those good vibes extend to an all round good energy.
ReplyDeleteNow may I have some of those divine pancakes? A couple, or five would be just fine...
A splendid, splendid ball! I think I passed out with Johnny Depp in the cellar. I do hope he had his way with me. Also, I hope Mr. Ed is a gentleman and does not discuss what he may or may not have seen transpire in yon carriage house. My time with you on the floor was pure enchantment, dear friend. Truly this is the space where artists live. To your health, m'lady! Long may you preside over us here.
ReplyDeleteTess...it was a grand night and a grand time had by all...Henri arrived with plenty of time to dance the night away...I don't believe he ever sat down...once he left me to refresh my glass...and I saw him in a tango with Karen in his arms, a red rose in his teeth...which he returned to me with a sweet kiss...and though it was a thorny it was still alluring! I hope you had a chance at a tango with him...he is proof of what Frost had to say about dance! Swoon...
ReplyDeleteAh, Wadsworth's Coffee is DIVINE! My *group* have already drunk 2 pots and the *Guys* are devouring everything on the table... head pounding, feet aching, throat and stomach sore from so much laughing! What a night! Poor Suki...I know she misses those sneakers....I am lucky, all I lost was my Red and Gold Mask...still drifting along the Scotio...
ReplyDeleteWhat a day - a night - a memory! This was the best Willow Ball ever!
Toasting you with my Espresso! Now, to rouse the *Guys*, and drive to the Airport... Greer is opening tomorrow night!
Love from: Franz, Greer, Jay, Ralph, Dimitri, Herman and...moi!
I must get some carrots to Mr. Ed...has anyone seen Babinger? Michael, did you take Ed's tartan blanket? I thought I saw Johhny Depp wrapped up in it? But it was foggy down by the river and late in the night. And remember, dear Michael, what happens by the Scioto sails away with its waters!
ReplyDeleteJohnny who?.......John Wayne was there....how could you all miss me???????
ReplyDeleteJohnny who?.......John Wayne was there....how could you all miss me???????
ReplyDeleteRobin, love that you planned a second dress...I had spare one waiting if I could have made it back to the carriage house...but Henri kept me busy...as well as all the other ladies...at one point I slipped out there...and the door was locked...I thought I could just see the Deppster with a bottle of wine in one hand ...and going through my gowns... Turning 50 must be bringing out his wild side!
ReplyDeleteSuch a lovely evening dancing with ghosts & thank you for this beautiful memory of Willow Manor!
ReplyDeleteThe blanket has been returned to Mr. Ed, m'Lady Marnie, as if by magic, and what ho! some carrots as well. We must keep Mr. Ed happy, or at least busy chewing ;-)
ReplyDeleteI am so glad that everyone had such a wonderful time.
ReplyDeleteThe annual border is such a beautiful place to be I am so sorry that I didn't make it this year after all, but I will certainly be there for Year Seven!.
Thank you all for making the Willow Manor Ball a smashing success...it wouldn't be possible without you, dear friends, and your delightful imaginations...
ReplyDeletethis kid still rockin...."the road goes on forever"....the party never ends...for poets
ReplyDeleteThank you for such a fun event. I agree a little fantasy can be uplifting and stir some creativity. It was fun to join in the festivities.
ReplyDeletePrior commitment and "responsibilities" kept me away from this year's ball. I had a rather unusual choice picked out for a date - not the typical go-to man, but will save him for next year! I scanned the party and it just keeps getting better each year!
ReplyDeleteSorry I missed it my poetess. I am still mourning the loss of our beloved Sadie (the dog). I know I'll be there next time. I loved reading the posts.
ReplyDeletewell, the catering team have barely recovered but we have at last packed it all away and donated the very few left-overs to the dog home... I think I need a very long lay down and a very stiff drink!
ReplyDeleteI demand advance notice of the date of next years ball so that I can ensure that I am able to attend. Yet again I find myself missing the event of the year : I am, of course, distraught.
ReplyDeleteUnfortunately, I'm not a night owl and missed a lot of the fun - Dinosaur Hand must have driven home... those lollies were potent!
ReplyDelete
ReplyDeleteNot silly at all, Tess. Even the Minister of Silly Walks approved.
Congrats Dinosaur Hand and Rene!
