Masked Ball, 1945, by Rafal Olbinski |
My co-host for the evening will be the inimitable R.A.D. Stainforth, who is busy coordinating some fabulous music. He tells me Sir George Solti has agreed to be the band leader, and the legendary Chet Baker, among others, will be entertaining us.
Don't forget ... it's a masked ball this year! Things should prove to be very interesting ...
I'm running late. I've asked Eleanor of Aquitaine to be my partner for the evening, but she still hasn't replied.
ReplyDeleteFascinating date...can't wait to meet her, Cro...
DeleteI do so love the Willow Manor Ball!
ReplyDeleteRuncible and I are deep in preparation.......
See you there!
Mimi
I just cannot believe it is that time of the year again Willow - it seems no time at all since I was waltzing round your dance floor last year. My arthritic knees are getting a bit past it, but I suppose in blogland all such things have vanished and we are all young again.
ReplyDeleteWe are all young and dashing and dance like gods and goddesses in cyberspace!
Deletesounds like a fun time for all have fun everyone who is invited
ReplyDeleteEveryone is invited, Becca! Hope to see you there!
DeleteIs it that time again? This is a most intriguing painting for a most intriguing event.
ReplyDeleteOoooh, as you know Tess, I could hardly wait and simply had to ask when I bumped into you at Facebook Land!
ReplyDeleteMasquerades are my favorite!
So looking forward to my fourth ball at the Manor. Placido is coming with me. I did ask Boris Kodjoe but Nicole Ari didn't seem to think it was a very good idea. Something about their children thinking maybe I was a cougar!
ReplyDeleteYou are a cougar...aren't you, Bee? (giggle)
DeleteShush.......
Delete*chuckle*
DeleteChuckle?? Chuckle?? Only you Marianne, only you!!!
DeleteTho i will be attending, I dare not bring a date. The self imposed loneliness fuels my perceptions of tortured genius and mysteriousness.
ReplyDeleteOkay...bring your tortured genius and mysteriousness, Michael...
DeleteHa! Sounds very fun! k .
ReplyDeleteI will try to make it, but my date (who prefers to remain anonymous but LOVES to wear a mask!) hasn't let me know if he'll be able to swing by.
ReplyDeleteSwing by - we'll be looking for you.
DeleteThanks for the invite Tess. Bee has encouraged me to come. Already posted my choices of masks on Sidetracked Charley. Think I have decided on my coat and the luggage. Have invited Johnny Depp as he was just in Angel Fire working on the Lone Ranger. Do not know if he is comlng as Tonto or Capt. Jack Sparrow.
ReplyDeleteThe coat is divine - to die for! A hit with Tess I should think.
DeleteJohnny Depp??? Careful..............maybe he'll bring a barrel of rum although that would be terribly infra dig at a Willow Manor Ball.
Yes yes...rum and Depp...bring them on (!)
DeleteTrinidad is the land of rum!
DeleteBring a few barrels Bee...
DeleteAye aye Cap'n. I'll be sending them ahead so it won't look as though I just stepped off a banana boat!
Deletei may come masked of course
ReplyDeletemy date will also be masked, should she decide to attend
more committed i cannot be
for Vague Mystery is my name
and V. M. are letters that fall
in the same alphabet as
my REAL Name letters sleep in
when after midnight
the clock struck
my mask comes off
to reveal
yet another.
I eagerly practice my steps in the predawn burgeoning light
[elipses please Maestro!]
Looking forward to learning your real identity V. M. ...
DeleteI am so ready! My gown is hanging in the dressing room, my jewels are on the dressing table, and I've put my mask next to my evening purse, so I'm sure not to forget it. Wait until you see my date, Willow. I know I'm going to be the envy of every woman at the ball. You're on central time, is that right?
ReplyDeleteHello darling! I plan on attending this year. My date for the evening will be Michael Fassbender ;-)...You can see our attire over at the Tea Society Blog.
