Virgos are in constant motion due to their abundant nervous energy. It is vital that this energy finds a positive outlet, otherwise it will be frittered away into restlessness. They should learn to center themselves and find inner calm, or tension can become a problem. Virgos are known for their ability to be helpful in many situations. Orderly individuals, they are a very analytical and discriminating sign. Virgos strive for perfection and can be critical of others. They may lack confidence and under value their own achievements.
Virgos like to keep fit and physical exercise is part of their daily routine. They prefer a healthy diet, as well as lifestyle. Virgo is the sign of the craftsman. Tasks requiring careful, detailed work appeal to their perfectionist side. In their concentration of fine craftsmanship, however, they can sometimes be so focused they lose sight of the big picture.
Caring professions are traditional occupations for Virgos. Serving others, quiet efficiency, attention to detail, organization, practicality and reliability are all typical traits.
The gemstone for Virgo is the sardonyx. The colors are green, dark brown and navy blue. Flowers are brightly colored small flowers such as buttercup and forget-me-nots. The body parts associated with Virgo are the intestines and nervous system. The countries are Greece, the West Indies, Turkey, United States, Brazil, Crete, and Yugoslavia. Domestic pets, especially cats and dogs, are associated with Virgo.
So there you have it. A Happy, Happy Birthday to all my dear Virgo bloggy friends!

I love Virgos. They all know how to put the world in order, and though they may not agree among themselves exactly how that looks, they are willing and ready to sort through the chaos. They really are perfect, if perfection exists. I salute them, and you for saluting them. Happy September.
ReplyDeletehopefully my virgo will bring corn to the table tonight...on the cob preferrably....birthday time around here...the whole fam in 45 days.
ReplyDeleteFor some reason I don't have any Virgos in my life. I have only known one. They sound wonderful, though.
ReplyDeletehi willow - a very tidy and timely (remember the "leo incident"?!!!) precis of the virgo personality. thanks. steven
ReplyDeleteNeat post. As Steven says, tidy and timely. lol
ReplyDeleteI like these looks at some old Renaissance pics.
That Da Vinci looks like the same face as he used for the angel in the Virgin on the Rocks. Must have been the same model - simply breathtaking
ReplyDeleteFrom a Virgo: thanks!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful picture! That Leonardo . . . he was something else.
ReplyDeleteThank you Willow. Although I do not swear by sun signs I must admit that it is me down to a "t". Not everybody experiences us in such a positive light - we can sometimes be a complete pain in the you know what - and so I have been told. Thank you for portraying us in such a perfect light.
ReplyDeleteAh yes, I have been married to a Virgo for 31 yrs ... its never dull
ReplyDeleteI always enjoy your writings on the zodiac.
ReplyDeleteHappy Birthday to all Virgos. My eldest is a Virgo; though most of the attributes might apply to him, the shy, introvert part does not. He enjoys being the center of attention.
ReplyDeleteThis is me, alright! :) And Reya ~ I love you for saying we Virgos are perfect! You made my day! xo
ReplyDeleteVirgos drive me insane but I do appreciate them. Happy Birthday to all the fussy pants!
ReplyDeleteHappy Birthday to all the Virgos out there!
ReplyDeleteOoh - with my birthday I must be a Virgo giraffe! I can see some traits there - always dancing around energetically, and obsessive about storing and rearranging things in order - colours, alphabetical, whatever. (I'm told I'm like Sheldon of The Big Bang Theory!!)
ReplyDeleteOkay: Personal comment. This post made me cry (in a good way). We had a late term miscarriage in between kiddle 2 and 3. Thirteen weeks. It was going to be a Virgo. I remember thinking "I don't know any Virgos?" and then I remember looking it up and getting excited about who he/she was going to be.
ReplyDeleteMy life is so busy, I very rarely stop and think about that time in our lives or the dreams that began and ended with that fleeting heartbeat, thanks for reminding me and making me take a look back. xo
Perfect timing Willow - it's MOTH's (aka Mr. Picky Picky) birthday tomorrow! I think I made a comment here at The Manor around this time last year about Virgo's hypochondriacal 'tendencies'. MOTH's toiletries bag has continued to expand from last year & he could now easily perform complex neurosurgery from it if called upon. The fitness thing still prevails, he's just stumbled in from a 5.30 a.m. row down at the River. And I love the intestines 'bit' - he just has to fly over the Indian sub-continent @ 40,000 feet for Delhi Belly to make itself known to him!
ReplyDeleteMillie ^_^
Now what would a virgin do with a stalk of corn???? LOL!!!(I will fry for that one)
ReplyDeleteMy mom was a Virgo, and some of that sounds like her, some not so much. She was a gem...
ReplyDeleteHi Willow
ReplyDeletethis is one of my most loved paintings...
I have been a teacher and counsellor, I love my own company, am fiercely independent, have just returned form the gym, am a thinker, a born organiser, and have indigestion, and a birthday coming up...
there you are - the Virgo poster girl...
Happy days
I know Virgos quite well. I grew up in a family with three of them! :^)
ReplyDeleteMy experience is that Virgos make the perfect grandmother. And for that I am grateful.
ReplyDeleteI sound so much more like a Virgo than a Leo. Maybe there was a strange shift when I was born.
ReplyDeleteJust back from my fantastic holidays in Spain and doing my usual blog round. It's so nice to see that the good quality has not diminished one bit. Many thanks for your fantastic post. I am a Scorpio with a Virgo rising, so that explains my (very mild) OCD :-).
ReplyDeleteGreetings from London.
I've 17 Virgos to sing happy birthday to, in my immediate circle.
ReplyDeleteLenny the magnificent!... -Jayne
Virgo is surely a sign you can't forget.Virgo is the opposite sign to mine,Pisces, yet the one who complete it.I agree with the critics, the eye for the details, they are organised person too. They appear cold, but it's not who they are inside.Happy birthday virgos!
ReplyDeleteI'm dealing daily right now with a Virgo that needs to read your post! Because then maybe she'd understand that she needs to get the big picture in order to complete the volunteer project we're working on together.
ReplyDeleteA perfectionist myself, she drives me batty, especially with indecison. Perhaps her moon is aligned badly! ;-)
Ooh that reminds me; my youngest nephew's birthday is coming up on the 10th( but 'tis not a happy reminder...I think he'll be 10 or 11 )??
ReplyDeleteHello Willow,
ReplyDeleteI know two Virgos and much of this would fit!
Hubbie is a Virgo...he falls into a great deal of these characteristics!
ReplyDeleteHey, Mr. Cuban, so nice to see you back in the bloggyhood. You were missed! Hope you and yours enjoyed your holiday.
ReplyDeleteMidlife, did you happen to be born early? WT was born a whole month late, back in the day when they didn't induce labor. His birthday says he should be a Virgo, but believe me, he is Leo, through and through, without a single once of Virgo.
ReplyDeletemmmmmm... maybe we need to take in to account Sidereal Astrology. ?
ReplyDeleteI just popped over to Google read a bit on Sidereal Astrology. Fascinating. It makes a lot of sense.
ReplyDeleteI don't think I have a single Virgo friend as my calendar for this month has not a single birthday entry/
ReplyDeleteI've been waiting to see my zodiac! :) I think I fit the criteria rather well: OCD about color coding my closet, on my way to becoming a librarian, kitten and puppy lover and, and blogging as an outlet for everything.
ReplyDeleteHaha. I love it when zodiac/horoscope things match up. :)
Many times over I have read the discription of Virgo, and this one is the closest to date...bravo! :)
ReplyDeleteLove the analysis of the Virgo women. Robert Schmid, artist, and husband to E. Wix blogger did a drawing of Elizabeth, after the Leonardo portrait that you pictured. I wonder if they have a copy of that drawing. Love your blog and thanks for commenting about mine. I expect almost everyone in the US has family members that were immigrants. Many of them walked through Lower Manhattan. All four of my grandparents came through Ellis Island, and my mother was born on 9th street.
ReplyDeleteLori, oh I would love to see Robert's drawing. Wonder if Elizabeth will show it to us?
ReplyDeleteMy Mum's Virgo, and it's her birthday today. 82! Thanks Willow.
ReplyDeleteOur daughter, Claudia, is a Virgo.
ReplyDeleteAnd, as Reya suggests, she is perfect and wonderfully good at setting the world to rights!
Sounds like a good sign to be.
Yes, as you say in the poem, autumn is a new beginning.
I do know the drawing Lori (Jarvis House) is referring to,
R. did it as a limited edition print about 15 years ago -as presents for friends.
I would have to did through lots of stuff to find it here but it will a photo of it tomorrow at a friend's house....!
Happy Birthday to all the wonderful Virgos out there including myself! We are a force to be recond with! :)
ReplyDeleteOooh, so this could explain a lot...very nice,
ReplyDeletemaybe I'll do a post on it one day.
Have a lovely evening
nice stuff here, very very nice
