If you are an admirer of the dynamic Georgia O'Keeffe and her
fabulous artwork, you won't want to miss the TV movie Georgia
O'Keefe. The talented Joan Allen portrays the artist and Jeremy
Irons is photographer and art impresario Alfred Stieglitz, her
husband. From what I understand, the movie is not a historical
biography, but more a portrait of a complicated marriage. I'm sure
the chemistry between Allen and Irons will sizzle! Tune in tonight,
Saturday, September 19, at 9 pm et/pt, with encores September
20 at 7 pm et/pt and September 22 at 9 pm et/pt on Lifetime.

To create one's own world, in any of the arts,
takes courage.

  2. I cannot wait to see this! I was at the Cleveland Museum of Art last week and saw two of the most magnificent O'Keefe paintings. So, so gorgeous in their new setting in the new wing. I hope that her house in Abiquiu will be shown.

  7. Maybe a mini-series could attempt to cover some of the stuff O'Keeffe and Stieglitz did ... The range of things they did - the people they knew, the art that was done ... I'm guessing it will be a show about personalities with just a nod at their accomplishments.

  9. Oh how I wish I could watch this movie - TV dramas aren't very big in the UK sadly..
I used the same picture for my blog post on O'Keefe - it is very striking isn't it? Desert beauty reflected in a face.
Hope you write about the film afterwards..

  11. Stieglitz loved O'Keefe for being "a woman on paper"; I love her just for being (having been). If I wrest control of the remote this evening, this will be watched. But I'm glad to know there are other possibilities. Thanks for the heads up!

poemcrazy is floating around here, too. What do you think?

  13. Hello Willow,

Regretably, I don't know their works but if your second pic represents a sample of her painting, I like the scale and colour!

    Hi! Willow,
I'am a great admirer of artist Georgia O'keeffe.
Therefore, thanks, for sharing the information about the upcoming TV movie...which of course, would have escaped me...because of my lack of television viewing.

Willow said,"From what I understand, the movie is not a historical biography, but more a portrait of a complicated marriage."
Wow, I have read several books about their private life. I guess that it will be interesting too watch how their personally life is depicted on screen.

Thanks, for sharing and I hope that you, have a nice weekend.

  41. I was always attracted to her work and have now not only seen this movie twice, but I have also moved on to further researching her life. I started with Art and Letters, a wonderful book of letters O'Keeffe wrote to friends and artists and with her paintings to go along with the words.

I think you would like it!
