Word Verification

I'm sure this topic has been blogged on hundreds of times already,
but don't you think the Blogger word verifications are becoming
more and more intriguing? I am beginning to think they are
evolving into intelligent life forms. Not only are the "words" a
humorous take on real words, they are starting to be synchronized
with the bloggers for whom I leave comments. For example, the
other day after leaving a comment for one of my Japanese friends,
the word verification was honta, too close to Honda, don't you think?
Next, I left a comment for The Bach in Indiana, land of the Hoosiers,
and what is my word? Foozyer. A foosball playing Hoosier? Then on
to leave a comment for a handsome bloggy, who happens to sport a
goatee. Chingoat. I'm not kidding! On an artsy, museum visiting
New Yorker, I got tatemet. And last but not least, I actually had the
word pareezo, after leaving a comment on a dear Parisian's blog. Is
this purely my imagination or some kind of odd synchronicity? I
certainly hope it's not connected to 11:11 in any way, shape or form.
Maybe I'm just suffering from a simple case of blogger overload? My
last word verificiation was aergobra. I won't tell you where I saw
that one. Are they trying to send me some kind of message?

These gongian words are completely loodoreo with innitypoo.
I am, however, going to remain sainer with logicsi.
.
Talk about productivity! I just mentioned to a bloggy friend how I
wanted to learn a second language. Well, I am certainly becoming
fluent in WV (word verification).

That's all I have to say about that.

  1. I've noticed real words lately as opposed to gibberish. But I haven't noticed any synchronicity with the bloggers...hmmm...must investigate.

A side note: I received a small pitcher as a wedding present in the same pattern as your favorite mug.

  2. I think someone must have reprogrammed those little pains in my behind (my old eyes refuse to distinguish the letters in some of the fonts used)so that the spell something, even if its nonsense. Yes, that leads to some interesting results.

  3. Twas brillig and the slithy toves . . .

I haven't noticed this but will pay more attention.

  5. LOL.. will definitely be looking at those differently from now on! thanks for placing that little bug in my head! :P

  7. Hi, Willow. Actually this sounds like the plot for an M. Night Shyamalan movie.

    ReplyDelete
  8. I must say, willow, that I always read the word out loud and it mostly sounds like a real word - I think we should start a dictionary!

  9. A strange coincidence, Willow. I wrote of a strange coincidence today too. I have noticed that the word verifications are getting easier to read. Now I'll pay more attention.

  10. Hahaha! Oh, my, oh, my. What a lovely post. You know that I was thinking about that the other day when I went on Tango Baby's blog? There was a proper Spanish word in the WD box. Thanks for such a lovely post.

    Greetings from London.

  11. Hahaha! Great post and so observant. How do come up with these? I wonder what will come up for me when I post the comment. hum?

  12. I'm with you on this one and sometimes tell people what their word verifications were.
Yes, instead of being a jumble of random consonants they do seem like almost words......
    We must start a collection.

  13. duh! nothing...you don't have word verification. so, embarrassing.

  14. Willow, what a curious observation and a fascinating idea for a blogger dictionary! Reminds me of The Devils Dictionary by Ambrose Bierce. You never fail to fascinate!

  15. Funny. I'll have to start taking note with the next word verification. Some I do on other sites, say they are sorry, but just checking to see if I am human. Funny.

  16. I think of word verification as a form of divination, a modern form indeed.

Enjoy your black tea and stay warm.

    Word verification: Brrrrr.

(Not really. I don't use it either.)

  17. I read somewhere that sometimes we are helping transcribe actual text..

  18. I have had exactly the same thoughts - fun post, xv

  23. this is a delightful post, willow! i just love it. i have also had to smile a few times at the words verifications i get. they seem to be closer to real words these days than they used to be. they've gone from "xvwprtm" which has no semblance of reality to "lepstr" which comes very close.

    have a great sunday!

  24. I have noticed recently that many of the word verification letters are real words.
I have to say I hate the inconvenience of having to go through it. I still have it on my posts but question whether it does make a lot of difference.

    ReplyDelete
  25. That is so funny. I hadn't ever noticed that but I can see how smart these words get. What a smartly written post.

    ReplyDelete
  26. I don't think you're mad at all and have noticed the same thing too. In fact a couple of times I have been empted to write 'you won't believe the word verification I got here'!

    ReplyDelete
  27. The unsolved part of the Da Vinci Code? Why not? "Aergobra"...I found to be quite uplifting!

About 11:11, I wonder what meaning that has for you? I have always welcomed angels to my side when I see all those 1's. Better that way.

    ReplyDelete
  28. We played a game for a long time where when you made a post you had to use your "word" from the word verification in a sentence. People came up with some really crazy, creative, and funny sentences!

    ReplyDelete
  29. Definitely have noticed some similar oddities at times. Yours are far more synchonictious. I can hardly believe you have 690 followers. Zounds.

    ReplyDelete
  30. You do pick em Willow!
The words have evoked a grin or two here as well especially since I fumbled a word that was close, then got another spot on the person it was for!

    ReplyDelete
  31. I have noticed this too, Willow. One day on Rachel's blog the word was Katty! (as in DK). All very weird. I think you're right, they're evolving into life forms of their own.
Happy New Year to all at Willow Manor.
    xx

  32. 'honta' is funny ^^
I'll look forward to 'tojota' or 'nizzan'...
I've noticed WV on Blogger was different from others, for example Myspace.
But I didn't think it was often related to content of the post.
    mmm...
    Thanks for interesting post!!

  33. I hate these word veris and have got to say that since marc (aurel) mentioned about Blogger having got tougher with detecting spammers, which in turn caused me to abandon word veri, I've not had anything untoward left on my blog.

    ReplyDelete
  34. I took my word verification off and had no spam for months on end until just recently but don't want to put it back on. I don't like the WV and find it annoying, but enjoyed your post immensely.

    ReplyDelete
  35. My last WV just came up BABBL. Trying to tell me something?????

    ReplyDelete
  36. my recent comment to larkspur above came in as "SESSY" - a discussion of skinny dipping in Victorian England.........Hm

    ReplyDelete
  37. I left a comment on an author's blog yesterday and the word verification was 'prose'! :)

    ReplyDelete
  38. Elizabeth, yes! That is exactly what I'm talking about! Don't you think it's intriguing?

All, I don't like the word verification either and took it off my blog months ago. Not much of a problem with spam. One or two, now and then.

    ReplyDelete
  39. i actually put up a whole blog devoted to definitions for these words together with a couple of blogland friends. :-) they're cool!

    ReplyDelete
  40. Just started diet- word verification - FOODIE- Scarey!

    ReplyDelete
  41. I adore playing with WVs. Even when they made no sense I'd make a word (complete with definition) out of them. Blogger has made them more fun now, and yes, I have noticed a quirky kind of synchronicity with some of them.

    ReplyDelete
  42. Lol, I really enjoyed this post. About word verification: I must confess that I do not like it at all. I consider it to be an attack on my eyes. Like it is not enough to have problems with computer screens now I must spoil my sight trying to read weird letters and phrases.
I think that your post about word verification is the only thing funny about it - ever.

    ReplyDelete
  43. I have also noticed the words being form to verify a comment. I have gotten many funny ones.

    ReplyDelete
  44. I've noticed this as well . . . although I can't offer up such wonderful examples! I will take note from now on.

    ReplyDelete
  45. True--Sometimes they really are funny the way they seem so appropros. Other times, they're so hard to read when they're wavy and slanted, I have to wind up putting 3 sets in before they "take!"

    ReplyDelete
  46. This is hysterical...I've noticed this too and get a great laugh at reading some of these funny cyber- created words..LOL!!

    ReplyDelete
  47. I am interested on the 11:11 connection - I LOVE THAT NUMBER - it always makes me smile - am I missing something? (well other than WW II)

    ReplyDelete
  48. I found 'dongsnog' to be rather suggestive!

    ReplyDelete
  49. Even geeks have a sense of humor - A weird sense of humor, but definitely entertaining. Pappy

    ReplyDelete
  50. I actually have noticed that the WV's seem to match the blogger your verifying for.

Did that make any sense at all?

I cannot write a coherant sentence

    ReplyDelete
  51. Hi, I seem to remember visiting here before...? How is it possible for you to have 50 comments already on this post? Impressive. I had noticed that WV was improving and mentioned it a few times when leaving comments elsewhere if the WV was particularly interesting.

  52. These words are called CAPTCHAS; I have gotten chapeau, line orca, rolana, strung slide and reverence bleu, I also have been fascinating by these strange word. Lately I have seen more French words than ever. We should all make lists of our Captchas and compare them with each other. Just a thought.

    ReplyDelete
  53. Hilarious...will keep an open eye and mind for this.

    ReplyDelete
  54. I really dislike the two-word verifications; invariably I get one right but can't read the second and get the flick repeatedly! Grrrrr!
