Got Eggnog?

We love this eggnog recipe at Willow Manor. It's delicious made with Drambuie, but is also good with Southern Comfort or Myers Rum. I always use freshly grated whole nutmeg and plunk a dollop of whipped
cream on top. It is absolutely heavenly.

Willow's Eggnog
~
2 Eggbeaters
1 heavy cream
½ Drambuie
handful of ice cubes
sugar or Splenda to taste
vanilla extract
nutmeg to taste
~
Blend the dickens out of it!
(no pun intended)

  2. Sorry about that bloggies! "Eggnog" posted itself briefly before its time. Since EV-eryone is crying out for it, I went ahead and posted it early. :):):)

  4. No raw eggs for you, eh?

Sounds delish...I've been pondering how the heck to make egg nog without eggs and milk, both of which I'm allergic to...

I'll probably just have to forget about it!

  5. Willow,
Although I enjoy drambouie on it's own, I prefer the rum in my eggnog.

  10. Drambuie? I never thought of that before. This sounds really, really good. I just may try this...but it would mean another trip to the grocery store and I thought I got everything for my Christmas dinner. Ha! Who am I kidding...I'll go back at least 3 more times.

  13. Because it has never occurred to me to actually make egg nog (and you make it sound so easy that I wouldn't be afraid to try it), that means I definitely will try it.

    Thank you!

  14. Mmmmm, real eggnog! It's making my mouth water.

I'm still grinning over your post about little Willow and the baby Jesus. I've enjoyed everything Frank McCourt has written. I need to look for this book too.

  17. Again..I am enjoying your blog...this post brings back some of my childhood memories as my mother always made her own yummy eggnog for Christmas - especially Christmas morning. She used raw eggs, rich milk, grated nutmeg, a little vanilla extract and beaten egg whites...no liquor when we were young! I continued this tradition with my children for quite a while until everyone became so weight and cholesterol conscious....anyways thanks for triggering a fond memory..

Your eggnog photo is beautiful! I am trying to learn more about photography and have been learning how difficult it all is!

  19. I have one minor character flaw.

    I dislike eggnog.

    I also dislike pumpkin pie.

But otherwise I am perfectly normal.

  20. I've never had egg-nog; I always thought it was a hot drink. Shows how much I know. I would opt for real sugar, too.

  22. Willow, pssst, Willow, Ish me Pappy. All those mixtures were pretty good, but I'm out of heavy cream so I've swished to Diet Coke. Merry Christmas. Pappy

  23. I've never really liked eggnog or the idea of drinking cleverly concealed raw eggs but I think I will try your version. I forgot that some people put a little Christmas spirit in it!

  24. Oh - this pale, yellow goodness is so delicious at this time of year. I sometimes get a hankerin' for it at non-festive times but it is perfect right now to combat the wickedly cold weather.

Dearest Willow, I hope you and your family enjoy a wonderful holiday at the Manor and I hope Santa bestows lovely treats to all of you!!

    Big hugs... (( ))

  27. Hello Willow,

I had tuned into your blog yesterday when my computer said you had posted about egg nog "2 second ago"!! Which may have been before its premature disappearance!

I was wondering what 'eggbeaters' were and now realise it must be an egg substitute. I had also thought it was a hot drink even though I have known advocaat for years! CHEERS!

  28. The photo is awesome! I have to try your eggnog! :-)

  29. I'll have to try this recipe. I just bought a quart of soy eggnog, it was wonderful, low-cal and non-dairy, now mind you it didn't have the rich, sultry, calorie-filled flavor of the original, but will do in a pinch for the seasonal urge.

  30. I stopped by for a few cups of your delicious egg nog! Egg Beaters! Who'd a thunk it? and Drambouie - and interesting addition over the usual rum. I like Grand Mariner in mine. I appreciate the way you wrote the ingredients: 1/2 Drambouie. This allows me to choose 1/2 cup, gallon, quart, which ever fits the occasion. Hic. Have a wonderful Christmas, Willow!

  31. Mmmmmm, let the decadence continue! This sounds wonderful. I just jotted down the recipe. Is 9:00 AM too early for this, do you think? :-)

  32. Mmm, I haven't had eggnog for years. Twenty four exactly, since this is not something that is consumed in our parts (so I only had it when I was an exchange student in NC, all those years away).

  33. DesertDiva - We make eggnog with soy milk here and with all the spice and flavor you put in it, the final product is delicious and the dairy is not missed.

  34. We love eggnog! We started the tradition when we got married but it fizzled out a few years ago...and I don't even know why! This looks very delish!

  35. Sounds like you're on your way to having a very Merry Christmas! Wishing you all the best at the Manor.

  36. that looks pretty good, but I'd go so far as to specify muscovado sugar...try it, it's worth it!

    happy feasting....

  37. That does sound delicious! Somehow we here managed to let Christmas go by without any eggnog....maybe I'll whip up a batch for New Year's Eve.

Wishing you a very happy New Year, Willow.
