Things are all a flutter here at the Manor with putting the finishing
touches on tomorrow's big dance. And how fun is this? I just got an
RSVP from the marvelous Ray Bolger. You remember him as The
Scarecrow in The Wizard of Oz? He will certainly contribute to a fun
and entertaining evening! I'm sure he has a few stories to tell. Like,
what would he do with a brain, if he had one?

What is dance? I am dancing all the time.
Every gesture, the body line of every pose,
the way I get from place to place,
the movement in the acting –
none of it would be the way it is if I weren't a dancer.
~ Ray Bolger

  1. Willow, how wonderful this is going to be. Is the weather in our favour? Will we have cocktails on the terrace?

  6. Thank you for the invitation to the Willow Manor Ball. I have just watched Sense and Sensibility and I am waiting to hear if Mr Edward Ferris (alias Hugh Grant) will be available to escourt me. Will let you know tomorrow!

  7. Great clip...What would we do without Youtube?

I've been busy with selecting the perfect dress for the gala...I might have to bring along more than one to change into..

  8. Eleanor, Might you ask Mr. Grant to save a space on his dance card, for me? I am a big fan of his - I loved him as Chopin in "Impromptu" and as Lord Byron in "Rowing in the Wind". (I think I've seen just about every one of his movies.)

I have my dress all picked out and now I just need to find shoes and a clutch.

  9. I just watched the Cary Grant montage....how utterly wonderful and delightful! And there was that haunting Leonard Cohen song again. I had never heard him at all until your 'movie of your life' post.

  15. Willow, hope that the weather hods for your dance. Nothing worse than wet formal wear and a ruined hair-do.

  16. Willow, I am visiting by way of A Little Birdie, is it too late to be added to the guest list? I will hurry and put together something to wear. If I am too late, I will wait until next year.

  19. I have just put your invitation up on my blog and I am getting so excited. I have always wanted to visit the Manor and this is my big chance. I can't wait to see everyone and, oh yes, will there be professional photographers at the party? This is making me like a little school girl. I can't wait for you to meet my guest. I think he'll be familiar. Romance and dancing is only a day away!!!!!

  22. Dearest Willow,
Gregory Peck just dropped in, he's been too shy to ask so if your supper will stand it, could I bring him as well as Omar? Greg is such a nice person I'm sure you won't mind.
Where do you find all these nice clips to entertain us with? I wouldn't know where to start looking.
Must rush, got to have my hair done.
