Interior Design Newsflash

The flea market framed moths, after floating around the house for three
days, have finally landed on the bookshelves in the family room. They
seem happy there and I approve. ;)

  3. Willow, this looks wonderful. The dark bookshelves really draw out the dark tones in the butterflies. Very nice, indeed.

  4. Oooh, it looks lovely! Willow - what is that striking white china? It looks so good against the dark bookshelves. What a stylish home... :)

  5. Thanks all! :)

It's vintage matte white McCoy pottery. There was quite a bit made in the 40's and 50's, mostly used for floral shop arrangements.

(Think I'll do a blog on it.)

  6. Hi Willow. Congratulations on the moths finding a home. But now perhaps you may want to put something on the opposite side of the shelf, to balance it and make it symmetrical. By the way, who is the little statuette of? It kind of looks like Lenin. Do you collect vintage Soviet memorabilia? When I was house hunting, one of the homes I looked at belonged to a couple of vintage soviet collectors. They had a Red Army standard issue clock in their study; I was quite taken with it.

    Anyway, have a good evening!

  7. LL, yes that is a bronze statue of Lenin. My husband has done extensive traveling with his business and brings back all kinds of unusual things. He was in Eastern Europe and Russia quite a bit at the time the wall came down, and has quite a bit of memorabilia.

  8. ps~~I think I'll leave it as is, I kind of like the asymmetrical look of it...and if you look closely at the reflection in the TV, I have a row of framed pressed, dried botanicals in a row over the window. That gives a balance to the framed moths. I should have posted a broader view! :)

  10. Yes, I took a closer look and I can see the outline of the botanical prints....perhaps worthy in themselves of another post?

  11. LL, they're not prints, I actually dried and pressed leaves and flowers from my yard and made nine little arrangements and framed them. Really fun project and so easy. Yes, maybe I should blog on them! :)
