like chocolate

My new favorite album is Melody Gardot's My One and Only Thrill. It has been playing nearly non-stop at the manor, as well as on my Facebook wall.   If chocolate could be heard, rather than tasted, I swear it would sound like Melody Gardot.

Gardot, born February 2, 1985, is a Grammy-nominated American singer, writer and musician.  She has been influenced by such blues and jazz artists as Judy Garland, Janis Joplin, Miles Davis and Duke Ellington.  Her music has been compared to that of Nina Simone.

I love Gardot's amazing story, how she overcame the effects of a near-fatal accident to become an extraordinary vocal sensation.  During her recovery, she used music as a form of therapy. Not long after her release, she was signed by Universal Records and the rest is history.  Her lyrics are sophisticated and poetical; her sound is cool, dark and seductive.

Check her out.  You're gonna love her, almost as much as dark chocolate.
