And who wouldn't feel the same way? Stay warm, Tess.
I like the subtle hint of brown in the monochromatic scene. It says, "Here there once was life and shall be again."
Such a perfect quote for you, my friend...may it ever be so.
Enjoy your snow days! Keep those tootsies warm and toasty.
This made me smile. It is mid January and I think this will be my first year with NO snow in over 20 years (and I'm OK with that :)
Oh, how beautiful.
A woman after my own heart.
if only she could have stayed with that thoughtHope you are enjoying the winter Tess...snuggles,hot soup, hearty stews and white snow against blue skies and of course...those wool socks
F A B U L O U S quote...it's been the first long and serious snow here in michigan as well...happy me watching from a window!
Brrrrr!..Snuggle Season!..Lovely quote and photo Tess! Cheers!
When I saw this, I immediately thought of the song..."But I was so much older then, I'm younger than that now".
Snow does exactly the same thing to me...when I see it I am a child again. It is a good thing:)
I do so wish I could feel that way about snow -- well, I can, actually, but only for a moment, and only if I don't have to go outside or --aargh-- drive in it. I think Ontario winters just zapped the love of snow right out of me. Virtual snow -- that's okay.
Very pretty but give me warmth! Must be the lizard gene.
I am older each year at the first snow......We're already having nightly frosts, I imagine the wretched snow will grab us again soon.
"Oh ..joy...rapture !!!!!! " I have never read anything that so perfectly described how I feel when the snow falls...thank you for the delightful quote ! Now ....if we might have some snow..not a flake in site this year...... : (
I echo every single word in that quote! The "first" is the key part, to me, where it's all flurries and pure and pristine and fluffy. Before it becomes slurpy and slushy.Gorgeous pic! enjoy!
Me too, me too, me too!
lovely, both quote and photo. that looks about like the same amount of snow we got here.
Exactly so -- barbara
I simply love that quote!
Riposte: Every year, when it snows, I am a little older. I see the drifts in my driveway and my back twinges. The ice on the walkway mutters under my boots, plotting to take me down to cracked hip-bone hell.
A wonderful season,and a wonderful quote Tess!! :-)
She was 30 when she wrote that. 15 years later she poured a glass of vodka, got into her car in her closed garage, started the ignition and took the long walk. I wonder if it was snowing that night.
Our snow has finally arrived too. Too late for the kids white Christmas but here none the less. It's absolutely lovely. So is your quote.
nah. it doesn't seem to work for me
Ah, the season of your winter mind is upon you. May it be inspiring, as Ms. Sexton's quote.
I reluctantly proclaimed this a first snow...in my book the grass must be completely covered for it to qualify as a "first snow"...but I was desperate...
This is just my second winter, so i am a little sad that I don't get so much snow. But it also helped because I need to do a lot... Been busy... Have fun Miss Tess!JJRod'z
So very true! When I was a teacher of big kids (16+) I always used to let them rush to the windows to see the first snow of the season!oxo
