turkey + pesto = yum
This is a wonderful alternative for the tried and true beef hamburger. They are juicy and full of flavor. You might be tempted to say you like them even better than beef. Give them a whirl and let me know what you think.
Turkey Pesto Burgers
2 1/2 pounds of lean (93/7) ground turkey
1 cup pesto
1 cup soft bread crumbs
2 cloves garlic, minced
2 eggs
freshly ground pepper to taste
makes 8 generous sized patties
You can also toss in a handful of feta, if you like.
I melted a slice of smoked Gouda on mine....MMM-mmm.

Rick, just add the eggs raw, like in meatloaf.
ReplyDeleteYour food posts are like poetry Tess! Yummy
ReplyDeleteOh yes! And preferably with home-made pesto.

ReplyDeleteSounds like just the thing to build me up.
ReplyDeleteSteve E, my little Canon PowerShot takes the best macro shots ever.
ReplyDeleteSounds great! I'm going to try it this week.
ReplyDeleteAnd I bet, for those of us on the no-carb bandwagon, that two big portobello mushrooms could substitute for the bun! 8-)
ReplyDeleteOh, wow. Looks incredible and I am going to try. Went to a friend's house last weekend and she served ground beef burgers mixed with freshly chopped basil and crumbled Gorgonzola cheese. I could not believe the flavor.
ReplyDeleteDid you do them on the grill?
ReplyDeleteYes, Pamela, outside on the gas grill. I grilled the buns, too. Mmm.
ReplyDeleteMarcheline, fabulous idea for the no-carb crowd. Portobellos!
ReplyDeleteTess - is the Canon PowerShoot your camera of choice. I have that same camera, as well and a bigger fancy schmancy one, but I find the PowerShoot to be much more user friendly and easier to lug around.
ReplyDeleteWhat a great shot of that stacked sandwich. Another recipe that will make mouths drool. -- barbara
ReplyDeletePenny, I adore my little Canon PowerShot. It's super easy to use, small, and takes fabulous photos. I say why fool with perfection.
ReplyDeleteTHAT PHOTO is so vividly DELICIOUS that I almost licked the screen!! ;)

ReplyDeleteits more than yum--simply mouthwatering too! now, if I coudl smell it as well, I;d make a right mess of my monitor. :)
ReplyDeleteI just love turkey burgers, and this is a fabulous twist! Who can resist pesto?
ReplyDeleteThey're also delicious with Muenster cheese and chive blossoms!
