  5. delightful....

however, I admit I had to go to the portal of all knowledge to define fibbertigibbet!

"flighty or whimsical person, usually a young female. In modern use, it is used as a slang term, especially in Yorkshire, for a gossipy or overly talkative person. Its origin is in a meaningless representation of chattering...this word also has a historical use as a name for a fiend, devil or sprite."

hmmmmmm...well I will go with the whimsy and sprite-like spirit,

  6. My interest is peeked! You live in Ohio?!? I've been enjoying your poems for awhile now, but didn't know you were in my state. Never have the bloggers I admire been anywhere nearby. Cool.

  17. I can imagine there are many, many of us who want to rush in and add that you are a kind and caring blogging friend as well.

I'll also chip in a couple of other metaphors you wear so well from the old classic "All the Things You Are":
You are the promised kiss of springtime
That makes the lonely winter seem long
You are the breathless hush of evening
That trembles on the brink of a lovely song
(music by Jerome Kern, lyrics by Oscar Hammerstein II)

Now let's see if between all of us we can get the lovely sepia photo to blush a little

  20. I knew it was you!! How amazing to be able to really 'see' you in that adorable, mischievous little girl.
Doesn't anyone recognise 'flibbertigibbet' from 'The Sound of Music'? That's how the nuns describe Maria :)

  21. What a sweet face. Adorable picture.

  22. Yes, Shaista is right! Remember flibbertigibbet is from The Sound of Music. Heehee, I thought everyone would remember! But then, maybe everyone isn't as nutty about Julie Andrews as I am.

  23. 'Renaissance woman'...Phil I love that. And it's high time to put "make me a willow cabin" back on my sidebar, me thinks.

  24. Eryl, I know, I hated that pixie cut. I wanted a ponytail so badly, I used to attach a sock to my hair with a bobby pin to improvise!

  25. Glad for the chance to meet the real willow.
Forgive me for mentioning it, but in Shakespeare a flibbertigibbet is a fiend, a devil.

  38. How precious!! You were a cute doll then and a lovely duchess now. And your smile is soooo sweet.
I really like the song from "Sound of Music" with "fibbertygibbet" in it. I also like the part where they call her a clown, I think that is a compliment, too. Although, I know I shouldn't mention clowns here : )
Have a good weekend, my dear!
