The third sign of the zodiac is Gemini, May 22 - June 21, originating
from the constellation of Gemini. It is symbolized by the twins,
indicating its dual nature. Gemini is a mutable sign, and Geminis
are versatile people. It is also an air sign, meaning that Geminis are
communicative. Gemini has been closely associated with the planet
Mercury and is considered to be ruled by it.
Geminis are adaptable and curious people, who like to keep on the
move. They are youthful and lively, but can feel restless. They
are quick thinking and have no trouble keeping several projects
going at once. Like butterflies, they flit around to various groups of
people, and are colorful characters. Usually, Geminis like to keep in
touch, enjoy emailing, letter writing and tend to be the first to know
the news.
The body parts associated with this sign are the hands, arms and
shoulders. Flowers are lily of the valley and lavender. Color is any
bright color, especially yellow. The gemstone for Gemini is the agate.
And the countries are Wales, Belgium, USA, Lower Egypt and
Armenia.
.
Happy Birthday, my dear, clever Gemini friends!
photo: Identical Twins by Diane Arbus
Pretty acurate, especially the colourful lively character, flitting like a butterfly. Sums up my daughter in a nutshell.
ReplyDeletePerfect Diane Arbus illustration.
ReplyDeleteYour Clowns post was most excellent! I had NO idea there were so many people with a clown phobia.
ReplyDeleteSober looking twin girls reminds me of Kings "The Shining".
I LOVE Diane Arbus photography. Haven't seen anything in a while. Thanks for reminding me how good she was.
ReplyDeleteThanks for the great over view of Gemini. My rising sign is Gemini. And congratulations on your clown post award! Well deserved. Also I take note of the two sisters’ comment and art work by Mary Cassatt,a favorite artist.
ReplyDeleteI love the twins photo. It is fascinating looking at their likenesses and looking for their slight differences.
ReplyDeleteI'm a Gemini and I'd say I resemble that explanation, especially the restless part. People probably don't see that in me, but on the inside I often feel restless and in need of change. Working at the same task day after day makes me crazy sometimes.
I work with a number of Gemini sylists and nail and massage technicians...they certainly are first to know the news!
ReplyDeleteCongrats on blogger award for your clowns post. Most excellent! Thank you from a Gemini, for the b"day wishes too!
ReplyDeleteWow! My Dad has this photo in a book out in our garage. I remember his pointing out to me how the twins were so alike but the photographer showed how they could be so different through their expressions
ReplyDeleteI have many Gemini friends and family members...interesting to think about their qualities as you have written them, xv.
ReplyDeleteHappy birthday indeed, Gemini! And many thanks for the wonderful post.
ReplyDeleteGreetings from London.
My husband was Gemini (he just made it being born on June 21) but I am not sure if this description fits him. He was clever, mecurial with a dry sense of humour.
ReplyDeletecongrats on post of the day again! once knew twins who claimed to feel each others pain, interesting.
ReplyDeleteNow how wonderful is it to be described as 'mutable'? I must use that word more often....and me a grumpy old Scorpio...lol.
ReplyDeleteHave a great weekend.
So many interesting tidbits there.
ReplyDeleteI'm definitely adaptive, curious, keep on the move, etc, etc,. amybe my birth cert has the wrong month noted.
ReplyDeleteToo, kudos on another Authorblog award! You rock!
Pretty much sums up my TWO geminis too!
ReplyDeleteMy dad's birthday is Monday--he'll be 85, and he's a Gemini. I love Arbus--her photos are so amazing, and this one was immediately recognizable, Willow! Happy Birthday, all you Geminis!
ReplyDeleteI'm a Gemini and my favourite flower is lily of the valley. Very interesting. Thanks!
ReplyDeleteMy twin granddaughters were born June 8...the twins of Gemini. One is sunny, one is moody.
ReplyDeleteMy son is also a gemini...two boys in one. When I would get tired of the hard to get along with one, I would ask for the nice one and he would come out.
Well, you've summed up my wonderful gemini boyfriend. :)
ReplyDeleteVery accurate, Willow. Haha.
My husband and son are both Geminis. (which drives this Cancer woman crazy!)
ReplyDeleteThis is the perfect description of a Gemini that I know! Especially the butterfly flitting around part. Twins have always fascinated me...and triplets! ;)
ReplyDeleteI am married to a Gemini, who on the whole fits into that description. Interestingly he has great trouble with his shoulder and a trapped nerve - perhaps it is all to do with his astrological sign.
ReplyDeleteAh Gemini ... I once worked for a man who was a Gemini ... some days his less than nice side went to lunch but his nice side came back, those were the good days ... OTOH my sister is a Gemini and she seems to be pretty nice all the time ... Happy Weekend!
ReplyDeleteI had never heard of this photographer but I like what I am able to see of her work.
ReplyDeleteMy wife of 54 years is a twin. Honest to pot she is. She didn't know she was a twin and her folks didn't know she was a twin but there came a point in time when she was about 16 that her doctor asked her in a whisper in her ear, "Have you been fooling around, Patty?" She was there to see the doctor because she had been having a lot of abdominal pains and wanted to find out what was wrong.
In the end, they did exploratory surgery on her and found her twin that had never developed properly was hooked onto her ovary and that it was beginning to decay. Anyway, that (her twin) was removed and she lost the ovary.

PS: Me and Patty are both "Scorpios" and that is supposed to be a no-no in astrology. Fifty-four years later...duh?
My son is a Gemini..took him forever to order from the menu..had to "taste" everything first..still super analytical..
ReplyDeleteThere was a great Arbus show at the MMA a few years ago...
I love Arbus photos -- the delicious creepiness of the everyday.
ReplyDeleteThis photo is amazing. Great post. Got me thinking... a new story? A NEW novel? Hmmmmmm.
ReplyDeleteOne of my favorite Arbus photos.
ReplyDeleteVery interesting post, thank you.
My husband is a an Ox & I am a Tiger, we're not suppose to get along either Mr. Lincoln!
My father was Gemini - duel personalities, for sure!
ReplyDeleteDiane Arbus work is great!
ReplyDeleteThat's me!
ReplyDeleteMy son is a Gemini, he was 28 yesterday. Also my no. 1 gdd who was 13 on 31 May! I am an Aries and I get on very well with Gemini folk.
ReplyDeleteI'm a Libra.
ReplyDeleteGreat photo. You know how to pick 'em.
ReplyDeleteI have been sooo busy. Have I missed any good food dishes or photos taken by ghosts?
Congrats on being a daily pick! I can't think of a better person. And I loved the clown post.
Have a good weekend, Willow. I will be so glad when winter is back, so I can have some down time for blogging.
Sounds about right. My Daughter and !st Husband were both Gemini, very restless but also charming.
ReplyDeleteVery close description. My birthday is June 7th. But, my favorite color is blue.
ReplyDeleteI out myself as Gemini, but I like the color yellow only in nature and at Schönbrunn Palace! I loved Diorissimo (scent of Lilly of the Valley so strong one can wear it but on cool May evenings), but please send me peonies or roses! ;-)
ReplyDeleteHi Willow - I turned 50 (I can't believe it) on May 23. I enjoyed reading the post on Gemini. It is a good thing that I am a Gemini at this point in my life. Read my post later today for the explanation. By the way, I LOVE the new header. Kim
ReplyDeleteWillow, "test" satisfactory, I think. What's up?
