Experiencing this particular dad's loving "hands on" approach
firsthand, I came to realize being a dad is much more than taking
part in bringing a child into the world and demanding their respect.
He has always, from the first diaper, been a vibrant and essential
part of our children's lives.

.
Even though we've only been empty nesters for eight months, (and
not completely, since the youngest is home for summer break) he
has bemoaned the fact that he misses the kids, nearly every single
day. He calls them, emails them, sends them silly things in the mail,
and arranges his international trips so he can stop on the way out of
the country for a visit. He gives them the biggest bear hugs, known
to mankind, every time he sees them, even when it is every day.
.
They are truly loved, and in return, he has earned their dearest love
and respect. I am proud to say the best dad in the whole world is
father to my children. And you know what? His grandchildren are
going to be the luckiest kids on earth.
It is a wise father that knows his own child.
William Shakespeare
what a great tribute to the man you love and is partnering with you in raising grown children at this point. being a mom or dad doesn't end when the nest is empty. wishing you many more years of love.

Father's Day was always about my own father since we have no children of our own, so this one will be particularly empty. It is so nice to be able to share in the warmth and love of those friends around me in the blog-world. Thanks.

Great words Willow!Have a wonderful day!:)
ReplyDeleteThree hearty cheers for good dads everywhere.
ReplyDeleteNot all children are lucky enough to have kind fathers, not just fathers who love them, but also fathers who like them. You are very fortunate that your children have such a father unconditionally and that he shows it so freely and openly. This is what we all wish for, for ourselves and for our children. We all have a hunkering for it, but few of us see it fulfilled. Bless him and bless you and bless your children.
ReplyDeleteGood for him! (& I bet you're right about the grandkids). He really looks like he loves & enjoys his children in that picture.
ReplyDeleteHi! Willow,
