A Lark in the Clear Air

Dear thoughts are in my mind
And my soul soars enchanted,
As I hear the sweet lark sing
In the clear air of the day.
For a tender beaming smile
To my hope has been granted,
And tomorrow he shall hear
All my fond heart can say.

~traditional Irish song

  12. Not familiar with the film, but the song is lovely; those old British Isles songs are often at their best sung a capella I think.

  17. Hi Willow, thanks for this post, this song is beautiful and soothing.

I've just seen your previous post about the Triplets, that's quite a coincidence because I've blogged about this film last week as well. I absolutely love it, it's so quirky and so French!

  29. It's a wonderful film, isn't it? I was amazed at how well selected the cast was - particularly the Hugh Bonneville/Jim Broadbent transition.

It's a beautiful song. The Irish certainly know how to write music.

    Willow, have you seen "Once"?

  30. Beautiful,
    I love Kate (and Judy!).

    I read the book,
    then watched the movie,
    then read the book again.

    Thank you!

  31. I was always fascinated and challenged by the real Iris Murdoch and her views on pholisophy and literature. I have seen this movie many times and Winslet and Dench do a superb role at embodying Murdoch
