We are spending it with dear friends who moved away a few years ago. I had in mind something rich and comforting and this fills the bill beautifully. I've been doing slow oven braised food, too! Have you ever tried doing the same sort thing with bite sized chunks of shoulder of pork -- a few prunes added in is so delicious. Oh and I find that leeks are a nice change from the ubiquitous onion I highly recommend Delia Smith's British cookery books -- I guess she's a huge TV cooking star in the UK...Jane Moxeyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/03771039102502842946noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1636364949017025470.post-23892508886976059352009-11-15T11:59:17.003-05:002009-11-15T11:59:17.003-05:00Polenta is Mmmm with all king of things, sauces an...Polenta is Mmmm with all king of things, sauces and colours ... :)

It doesn't even need ribs...:)Anonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/01741776514652080408noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1636364949017025470.post-43115621752136961362009-11-15T11:28:43.115-05:002009-11-15T11:28:43.115-05:00I've not been able to find ribs out here - it ...I've not been able to find ribs out here - it seems it is not a popular cut of meat for the French - what are they missing, eh?

Looking at the picture of your ancestral home, I wonder if the English hairdresser Trevor Sorbie could be a relation of yours.French Fancy...https://www.blogger.com/profile/04941577892849157015noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1636364949017025470.post-32022787700299736332009-11-15T10:56:47.945-05:002009-11-15T10:56:47.945-05:00What serendipity!...Although I have never made it ...What serendipity!...Although I have never made it before, I just found a recipe for short ribs with polenta that intrigued me enough to buy all the ingredients for it....I may switch over to your recipe it sounds so good:)GailOhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09556665956317683667noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1636364949017025470.post-804745973983424342009-11-15T10:28:55.880-05:002009-11-15T10:28:55.880-05:00Yum - is all I can say without drooling!Yum - is all I can say without drooling! The Weaver of Grasshttps://www.blogger.com/profile/13947971556343746883noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1636364949017025470.post-50924951458518736162009-11-15T09:42:34.976-05:002009-11-15T09:42:34.976-05:00Mmm~ one of my favorites! I'd marinated it in olive oil, garlic, rosemary, lemon, s & p, fennel seed, and chili flakes. I grilled polenta cakes for the starch and served steamed rapini. My guests really enjoyed it.
